Rock and Roots—Riverside State Park

This image is taken from a 5 x 7 dry plate orthochromatic image. You can see two different rock types and the product of a swollen river in the exposed root system.  It reminds me of Pablo Neruda's last book Questions. One of the questions asks:
Qué aprendió el árbol de la tierra para conversar con el cielo? What did the tree learn from the earth in order to converse with the sky?
