Dr. Greg's Historical & Modern Photography

RL's Barn

Picture
aRL's Barn is a unique place in a State Park. RL is a former colleague in the Photo Department at Spokane Falls Community College. He may be former but no one can forget him and his sense of humor. This photo was shot on a whole plate dry plate. Since there was no anti-halation layer on the plate you can see what happens when the dark meets the light. That wonderful glow creates a narrative with the light and the outdoors that film with an anti-halation cannot. How I love the possibilities that we have as photographers in this day when a dry plate and a digital file can both convey a narrative.
